1 lakh subscribers at risk as RentMojo reports data breach
RentoMojo, a prominent online rental service, was recently the target of a cyber attack by the infamous hacking organisation ShinyHunters. The breach exposed the personal information of over 100,000 subscribers, putting their sensitive information at risk.
ShinyHunters, a cybercriminal organisation notorious for high-profile attacks on a variety of organisations, has a history of targeting databases and releasing stolen data on the dark web. RentoMojo’s database was breached in this recent assault, and user data such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, and hashed passwords were compromised.
The scope of the breach is still being probed, but it has alarmed RentoMojo’s subscribers, who are now vulnerable to identity theft, phishing attacks, and other cybercrimes. The consequences of this compromise might be serious, as bad actors could use personal information for a variety of unscrupulous objectives.
RentoMojo, a platform that rents out furniture, appliances, electronics, and other household things, has notified all affected members and advised them to change their passwords immediately and remain vigilant for any suspicious behaviour.
