Deloitte India fired an employee running hacking operations globally

Aditya Jain, an employee of Deloitte has been accused of running a global hacking group “WhiteInt”. This hacking group was exposed in an undercover operation that was led by “The Sunday Times” and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism. The hacker group was running its operations from the fourth-floor apartment in the cyber city of Gurugram.

The gang was supposedly funded by British Private Detectives, and they targeted British government officials, businessmen, and journalists. The gang was tasked to steal the credentials of potential targets by using various phishing techniques. Philip Hamond, Former Chancellor, Michel Platini, former head of European Football President of Switzerland, and other delegates are among those targeted.

Aditya Jain, the 31-year-old joined Deloitte as associate director in February 2022. He has previously worked with Big Four’s (EY, Deloitte, PwC, and KPMG) prior to joining Deloitte. As per reports, the group was actively involved in phishing and other computer-related crimes for the last seven years. The databases recovered from the group spilled key information related to former Pakistan President Musharraf, Swiss President Ignazio Cassis, former UK chancellor Philip Hammond, former Pakistan minister Fawad Chaudhry and many others.

The modus operandi of the hacker group was to deploy malicious applications that took remote control of the victim’s computers and allowed hackers to monitor their victim’s activities. This gave hackers access to private and confidential information pertaining to the targets.

A Deloitte spokesperson said that the accused employee has now been fired and no longer works for Deloitte. This statement came amidst various media reports claiming Deloitte employee was the mastermind behind this hacking operation. The group offered services such as unauthorized access to victim’s email accounts and private messages and working on behalf of investigators working for autocratic states.
