Airline Argentina passenger data has been compromised
The aviation sector is going through a difficult time since last few years. Earlier it was due to Covid-19 which stopped aviation operations for more than a year and now the sector is facing difficult time due to currently ongoing cyber-attacks. In a major development to the same, we have recent news of data breach where one of the biggest airlines in Latin America, Airline Argentina (Aerolineas Argentinas in Spanish) has reportedly become the latest victim of a cyber-attack.
A dark web member named Ramilins has claimed to have data of more than 64k travelers of airlines and also details such as Name address, FTP server access, etc. Latest Hacking Updates team has reached out to the airline to confirm the data breach however company has not responded yet.
This airline company headquartered in Buenos Aires has been run by the Argentine government since late 2008 when the country took back the control of the airline from its Spanish owners.
It’s not the first time when an airline has become a target of cyber-criminals. Last month American airlines have faced a data breach however the airline claimed that the breached data size is very small and the breach occurred due to a human error.

In August 2022, Akasa Air’s(Recently launched Indian Airline) data was compromised. The Airline confirmed the data loss and said that the breach was limited to the users’ names, gender, email, and mobile number, and no other travel-related details were compromised.

In a time when critical business sectors such as manufacturing, transportation, hospitality, entertainment, etc are facing huge cyber-attacks, it is necessary to implement proper security controls as the first line of defence.
